2011 SATs Tests Show Year on Year Improvement
As in previous years, Children in Year 2 upwards took part in National Curriculum Tests (sometimes called “SATS”) towards the end of the final term. These tests feature papers looking at three key areas – maths, reading and writing – and usually take about a week. more details...

The British School of Nanjing Middle School Trip to Moganshan
Our summer residential trip set off on Monday 9th May at 8.30am and with a four hour bus journey behind us we reached our destination of Moganshan. We met our guide Miss Tori who was to help us discover the beauty and geography of the area. As a resident of the area she knew exactly what route we should follow on our orienteering course in the late afternoon of our first day.
Nanjing Football League Sees Second Season of Matches
Building on the successful inaugural Nanjing Youth Football League last year, excited children from BSN, NIS, NIC and YuHua have been attending sessions in the second NYFL games. The older yeargroup team sessions are being held at Zhengde College sports ground while the younger children have their sessions at BSN.

Middle School Trip to Xian
As the evening of Friday the 22nd of October arrived in Nanjing, so did some very tired Middle School students on their return from our residential trip to Xi’an! The trip started on Monday with an early flight to Xi’an and a pottery workshop in the afternoon. The students really got into throwing their pots and created some very interesting designs. We finished the first day with a swim in the pool in our hotel.

At 8:15, the first set of students arrived on our campus and were greeted by teachers and staff in the main lobby.
Despite the nervous faces we saw in the morning, the first round of breaks found students settling in to their classes and regaining their routines.

The doors opened and the students shuffled in, excitedly talking about all the awards lined up on the main table.
Headmaster, Mr Bishop strolled to the microphone and began his speech by congratulating the students on a year well done. The theme of the speech was tenacity, endeavour and reaching for a higher goal even when you may feel like not trying at all.

Foundation Stage Summer Splash Day
The Foundation Splash day came just in time as summer temperatures started to soar.
Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception students came together for a day of fun in the pools and a great opportunity to soak their teachers.

The British School of Nanjing Summer Camp
From Monday 31st May until Wednesday 2nd June the Middle School were away on a trip facing some fearful situations at Nanbei Lake. Some comments we will remember include ‘Mr. Polson - there is a lizard in my boat’, ‘I don’t like heights’, ‘I can’t do that, it’s too far’, and ‘there is a bug in my bedroom’. Then came, ‘that was easy’, ‘can I do that again?’, ‘what’s next?’ and ‘can we stay longer?’. All of the Middle School students gained a great deal for the experience by either facing their fears or by completing some very challenging activities. more details...

Although the morning spoke of rain the sun begrudgingly came out to join us at the 2010 Summer Faire.
Families began showing up at 2:45 and the first arrivals took to the football pitch and began practicing for the football shoot-out.
Cackles of laughter could be heard coming from behind Garden View as children raced down the Slip and Slide and then raced back up the hill for another go.

The White Tigers roared through the 2010 Summer Season undefeated and laid claim to the league championship. Despite being the team with the least amount of substitutes, the White Tigers managed to battle through using team work and passing as their standard. more details...

BSN and Nanjing Families poured in through the school’s front gate today and were welcomed by one of the most beautiful days since winter’s passing.
Stationed near the door, children gathered around the Face Painting booth. Manned by a force of BSN’s volunteer mothers, the children laughed with delight as they had their favorite characters painted on their hands, faces, or arms.
