We are currently accepting applications for Pre-Nursery to Year 7 classes, ages 2-12.

As an international school, we are not permitted by Chinese law to accept Chinese Nationals with a mainland Chinese passport. All international students, as well as students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are welcome to apply.

BSN offers a strict entrance policy limiting the number of students requiring English support to ensure a strong English environment is maintained at the school. When reviewing applications, we give priority to children with good levels of spoken and written English. Preference is also given to children with siblings currently studying at our school.

 

All applicants are required to submit the following:

• Official Application Form
• Contact Details Form
• Photocopy of the student's passport
• Photocopy of one parent's passport
  
• Two passport-size photos
• Academic transcripts from previous schools (Y1 and older)
• Application Fee (1,600 RMB)
  

Upon receipt of the completed application form, a pre-entry assessment will be arranged for the student with a member of our academic staff. Assessment tasks are age-appropriate, taken from the objectives outlined in the English National Curriculum.

The following are some additional details for each year level:

 

 

Pre-Nursery (2-3 yrs)

All children in Pre-Nursery class must be fully potty-trained and free of nappies/diapers. No minimum English level is required, although an understanding is an advantage.

Pre-Nursery class is held Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - Noon. There is no full day option available at this time.

Nursery (3-4 yrs)

All children in Nursery class must be fully potty-trained and free of nappies/diapers. An understanding of English is beneficial though not required.

Nursery class is held Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. A half-day option is available on a temporary basis, with a plan set in place to help the child successfully transition into the full-day program.

Reception (4-5 yrs)

Children in Reception class must be potty trained and out of nappies/diapers. An understanding of English is beneficial though not required.

Reception class is held Monday-Friday 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. There is no half-day option available. 

 

Year 1 to Year 7 (6 - 12 yrs)

At BSN the majority of pupils studying in Years 1-7 must have extensive prior knowledge of the English language, both spoken and written. There are a limited number of places for students who require some level of English support and this will be assessed by the school after submitting the application.

To apply, parents should complete and return the official application forms and send to school all the necessary documentation including reports from the previous school(s). An appointment will be made for parents to visit the school and for their child to be assessed by a member of our academic staff. Provided the entrance test results, school reports and the evaluation are satisfactory, a place will be offered.

Primary and Middle School classes are held Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, students may participate in an After School Activities (ASAs) of their choice from 3:30 - 4:30 pm.
