Nanjing Co-ed Youth Football League Starts March 13thThe British School of Nanjing in conjunction with t www.nanjingexpat.com is sponsoring Nanjing’s first annual co-ed youth football league (NYFL). The league will be open to children ages 5-6 and 7-13, to be held at Zheng De College sports complex. This should be an exciting event for not only BSN students but children all over Nanjing as the league offers free football kits, free shuttle bus and free registration (Shuttle busses will be open to both parents and players). Registration applications can be picked up at the school’s reception desk or you can download an application at www.nanjingexppat.com . The league is limited to 90 players so be sure to have your registration in before March 1st to ensure a place in the tournament. Of course a league of this type relies on parent volunteers so if you are interested in coaching or acting as an official then please contact the League Director (Mr Daniel Aylward) at daniel.aylward@bsn.org.cn .

International Flights, Back to School and One Last Holiday SurpriseOur family of international students boarded planes at different destinations across the globe as the winter holiday season was wearily ushered out. Students from 4 different continents (Or 6 depending on where you are from) landed safely back in Nanjing and began preparing for the last bit of winter and the start of our Spring Term. On January 4th, students hurried out of the cold and into the school building with stories carried from abroad. Some about family, some about wonderful gifts they had received and even one story about "a shark the size of Russia" (I am still debating the merits of that one but every story does well with a bit of poetic licencing I presume). Even though school had begun and the holiday was seemingly over, there was one last surprise waiting as students were shown to the newly remodeled library and ICT Suite, boasting stunning views of the lake and football pitch. Okay, okay…I know…perhaps our students were not as excited about the remodeling as they would have been about…say…a new bike or video game, but I am sure the Spring Term will be a bit nicer with the newly opened spaces and private reading areas.
