United Nation’s Day is one of my favorite events at The British School of Nanjing.

With over 24 different nationalities, the school explodes with colour on this day as brilliant traditional costumes are worn with pride.  The air changes with the smell of a host of delicious goodies prepared by our families and we all prepare for a feast like none other.

The children practice at home for weeks to put on display their traditional dances, songs and or folk traditions and you can see their immense pride in their performances.

After the school assembly, the children go off to the classes and learn about traditions from all over the world and have the opportunity to realise that sharing in other cultures and opening your mind to other habits and thoughts can make our world a very exciting place.
