This Friday saw the grand finale assembly of Book Week 2011. It was a fantastic event, with guest appearances from James Bond, Shrek and the Mad Hatter amongst countless others. It was a fantastic showcase for all the hard work, energy and creativity of all the children, staff and parents which has made Book Week 2011 such a success.

The assembly saw the Nursery children Going on a Bear Hunt and ending up with more than they bargained for. Reception and Year 1 made up their own endings to Julia Donaldson’s The Gruffalo (in which they all live happily ever after). Year 2a told us the story of Hairy MacClary from Donaldson’s Dairy while 2b explained why they would Never, Not Ever Eat a Tomato. Year 3 told us about all the activities they have done this week based around William Steig’s fairy tale with a twist, Shrek! Year 4 took us into a whole new world with their amazing descriptions of being shrunk like Alice in Wonderland. Year 5 taught us How to Train Your Dragon while Years 6, 7, and 8 showed us some selected high- lights with their interview and workshop with our guest Book Week author, Alan Gibbons.
