In our dedicated STEAM Maker Space, students roll-up their sleeves and solve some of the trickiest puzzles facing the world today. Your child will tackle unique creative challenges set by MIT professors on our STEAM collaboration days, too. At BSN, there really is an activity for everyone. Your child can do what they love – or try something different – through our ‘BSN and Community’ enrichment programme. Taking place Monday to Saturday all year round, our students enjoy fencing, ballet, football, Taekwondo, tennis, badminton and more. Our partnership with Nanjing Whisper Sailing sees our students take to the water on the beautiful Gaochun Lake. And our BSN Fox sports teams compete against schools in Nanjing, China, and across Southeast Asia.
All our students have access to our outstanding indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including a state-of-the-art gymnasium, 25m six-lane swimming pool, all-weather football pitch, 200m running track, and outdoor basketball court.
At BSN, your child will learn alongside classmates from across the world. They'll do this both in school and on our Global Campus learning platform. We want our students to gain a better understanding what makes people from different cultures and communities unique, which prepares them for careers in an interconnected world. Learning languages is a big part of this.
Mandarin lessons are part of every student’s school day, and we offer fun, challenging classes for beginners and native speakers. We encourage our students to become proficient in multiple languages, including Spanish and German. And our highly experienced English as an Additional Language (EAL) team ensure students who need extra help quickly get up to speed.
Our once-in-a-lifetime citizenship expedition to Arusha in Tanzania teaches students about global responsibility and sustainability, and the important role we play in looking after our planet. Working with the local community on various projects, students develop a sense of independence, increase their understanding of the world, and learn the importance of being part of a community.
We organise a wide range of inspirational educational and cultural trips in Nanjing, from local museums to social enterprise projects in rural communities. Each activity is carefully planned to broaden perspectives and add an extra dimension to your child’s learning.
From Year 4, all our students embark on week-long expeditions across China. Your child will visit some incredible places, including Fujian and Lijiang, where they’ll learn about local history and culture, and build their confidence and sense of independence.

CHANGING THE WORLD
We encourage our students to make their mark on the world. Through one-of-a-kind learning experiences and collaborations, your child will become a confident, conscientious global citizen.
Our Beaver Scouts Group was the first of its kind in China, and remains one of our most popular activities. Our Scouts go on adventures in the Valley, our very own outdoor area of natural beauty. They also learn the importance of helping others. In 2021, the group raised 20,000 Yuan for Nanjing Shimao Rainbow, a palliative care centre for children.
While they’re with us, we encourage every student to take part in enrichment programmes that give them a global perspective, like the Model United Nations. Your child will also drive change in the local community. Each year, we organise and sponsor the illustrious British Ball of Nanjing, which raises money to support Hopeful Hearts.
