Teaching Staff
It is the British School of Nanjing's policy to employ teachers with outstanding professional credentials from the UK with relevant experience delivering the British National Curriculum.

In order to be qualified, teachers must posses a UK tertiary qualification coupled with a specialised and relevant Educational/Teaching diploma issued by a reputable institution (usually 1 year). Alternatively, teachers take a specialised 4-year teaching degree, leading to Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) qualification.

Teachers are also required to have relevant experience in other reputable British Schools. Our academic staff has an average teaching experience of 7 years.

Each teacher also has the support of a classroom Teaching Assistant. For our Early Years (Foundation) program Teaching Assistants are experienced Chinese teaching staff with strong fluency in English. For our Primary program, Teaching Assistants are native English speakers who typically join the school after completion of a degree. As with all academic staff, Teaching Assistants are always employed with the aim of ensuring that the highest quality of teaching and learning takes place in our classrooms, particularly in the areas of literacy and numeracy. A number of our Teaching Assistants are also qualified and experienced teachers.
